Job Description

We are looking for a data scientist to join our young, friendly and enthusiastic team to help build our platform for facilitating access to human genomics data for researchers. Think metadata organisation and secure data access through privacy-preserving technologies.

This role would be perfect for a computational scientist with a strong background in genomics who is looking to challenge and further develop their skills and knowledge while being exposed to the day-to-day operations of a fast growing startup. You’ll be responsible for developing methods to enable faster and efficient access to genomic variants, to enable interactive applications, e.g. genome browsers, and population wide analysis across millions of genomes.

You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact from the ideas and code you contribute. We are looking for a passionate individual motivated in working with open source tools and sharing our desire to make genomic data work for people.

  • Strong analytical, statistical modeling, large-scale data analysis and data visualisation ability.

  • Good knowledge of and proficiency with standard bioinformatics and analysis tools.

  • Must have understanding of the next-generation sequencing (NGS) and/or GWAS field.

  • Proven experience in analysing genomics-based datasets.

  • Must be very detail oriented.

  • Proficiency in a data analysis language – Python or R and understanding of C/C++.

You are:

  • Self Motivated – You will be expected to manage your own time, to apply new methods to advance a given project.

  • Interdisciplinary – You have basic knowledge and interests in computing, statistics, genomics, etc.

  • Team Player – We are a small team so communication and team spirit is important.

  • Collaborative – You are not afraid to talk with experimental scientists, understanding their use cases to help the product design and communicate your results to the rest of the team.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in computational biology, statistics, genetics or related field.

How to Apply

Please send us your CV and cover letter to mentioning the position you are applying for. Remember to mention what motivates you to be part of Repositive as a startup with a strong mission for social impact and what skills and interests you can contribute to our development team. Describe what background you have (if any) that relates to science.

About Our Organization enables genomic data discovery, simplifies metadata organisation and provides secure data sharing and collaborations through a privacy-preserving platform. Our mission is to maximise the benefit derived from genomic data within the limit of the donor's consent for data access and use.
