Performs a variety of hematological, chemical and other tests on blood, urine, and body fluid specimens related to diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment follow-up of disease or uses similar techniques to monitor study participants. Involves operating analytical instruments; microscopic evaluations, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of clinical data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.
Participates where required in Quality Improvement & Quality Assurance programs for the Alliance Laboratory.
Promotes and maintains effective & professional communication with patients, clients, coworkers and SCCA colleagues.
May train new employees or train employees on new procedures. May be asked to complete additional projects or assume additional responsibilities at the discretion of the supervisor.
Works under the direction of Supervisor or higher-level laboratory personnel. Uses judgment and discretion in carrying out
Routine testing in hematology and chemistry in a clinical laboratory.
Basic laboratory skills and scientific knowledge in the area of study. BA/BS in Medical Technology or related field. Certification as a Medical Technologist through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. Prior training/working experience in a clinical laboratory is required.
