For over 20 years, SeraCare has been a leading partner to the largest global diagnostics manufacturers, and clinical diagnostic laboratories providing critical tools and support that help to improve and accelerate their cutting edge product development programs and ensuring the accuracy and precision of the diagnostic result. To further support the rapidly expanding Molecular and Precision Medicine diagnostics business, SeraCare is seeking a Clinical Sales Specialist, Precision Medicine.  This senior sales role has primary responsibility for all key account strategy, management and sales activities for SeraCare’s oncology, inherited diseases and reproductive health  products across assigned key diagnostic and biotechnology accounts. This strategic account management role will target senior level decision makers (Lab director  and higher ) within the leading clinical diagnostic laboratories adopting advanced precision medicine tests and present SeraCare’s products and laboratory quality tools  to drive strong sales growth, and strong long-term business relationships within these key molecular diagnostic accounts. 

The Clinical Sales Specialist, Precision Medicine will also play a pivotal role in advancing SeraCare’s knowledge of the changing Oncology MDx market, including market trends, acute market needs, and expand  industry relationships within testing laboratories as  required. 

As a representative of SeraCare, the Clinical Sales Specialist must build a comprehensive business strategy and travel plan to include all elements necessary to meet or exceed all goals for sales growth, profitability and customer satisfaction in the assigned key accounts.  Clinical Sales Specialist will perform in an ethical and professional manner at all times.

Requirements

The Clinical Sales Specialist, Precision Medicine position requires a strong understanding of molecular diagnostics in oncology and inherited diseases including strong background in selling NGS-based diagnostics into clinical laboratories. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the current state of oncology genomic diagnostic testing, including platforms, assays and development and validation of LDTs, and will have significant experience with strategic selling into the clinical molecular diagnostics market. This individual will have expert knowledge of all aspects of the key account management sales process, strategic and tactical thinking, planning and organization and be sought upon to share best practices, will lead-by-example and provide coaching and guidance to other commercial team members. They will also have a proven track-record of developing business within major Precision Medicine centers.  Requires good knowledge of Strategic and Consultative Selling (Strategic Selling, Spin Selling, etc.), excellent presentation skills (both group and one on one), excellent communications and teamwork skills to work effectively internally and externally.

The Clinical Sales Specialist, Precision Medicine must have the ability to determine customers’ needs through a technical consultative process, and to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels within assigned accounts, including both at the end-user and executive levels. Forecasting capabilities must be highly developed as well as the ability to create other reports accurately and on time as required.   Additionally, the Clinical Sales Specialist will help to drive adoption of innovative new precision medicine tools and prototypes by leveraging existing testing laboratory contacts. Industry knowledge will be utilized to identify and develop opportunities to expand our existing product portfolio.  They must be able to work closely with the strategic marketing teams and assist the sourcing group within operations with lead generation, and account management as necessary. 

Required Experience:

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Science (BSc) or higher in related discipline

  • Desired Education: Master’s Science (MSc) or higher in biology or related discipline

  • 7+ years of experience selling molecular diagnostic products in the oncology in vitro diagnostic market, including selling to pathology laboratories running next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based laboratory developed tests. Experience with NGS instrumentation and reagents andtheir use in diagnostic applications required. Experience in managing accounts at senior levels in a large geographic territory is desirable.

  • Computer skills must be at the level necessary to organize customer data, pricing, proposals and other key information including the use of productivity tools such as SalesForce.com and MS Office applications.

  • Flexibility of schedule to meet changing deadlines including the ability and willingness to travel out of state and out of country is required. Confidentiality and discretion required .
