Job Description

Celmatix is a research-driven precision medicine company focused on maximizing fertility. We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to join our growing team.

The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, under the general direction of the Clinical Laboratory Director, oversees the technical personnel and the reporting of findings, and performs tests requiring special scientific skills. In the absence of the Director, the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the proper performance of all laboratory procedures. The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, in collaboration with the Clinical Laboratory Director, is responsible for the implementation of the Quality Management System.

  • Monitor examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
  • Assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures which guide and support laboratory services in genetics, including all safety and health precautions.
  • In the event of non-conformances, ensure that results of test examinations are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
  • Interact with administration and other departments on behalf of the Clinical Laboratory Director when instructed.
  • Attend monthly Laboratory management meetings and Quality Assurance meetings with Director.
  • Assist in recommending the necessary space, equipment and staffing.
  • Ensure that department personnel are trained and competent prior to performing testing on patient specimens independently.
  • Oversee the provision of continuing education programs for laboratory personnel.
  • Manage laboratory team members with open communication, sees through immediate issues and documents all employee errors with corrective management action.
  • Monitor quality of services provided, and supervises proficiency testing, quality control and quality assurance programs.
  • Ensure the Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality Improves review follows the schedule.
  • Manage Quality System Audits and ensure effectiveness of quality plans.
  • Assist in the introduction of new testing procedures which have been approved for diagnosis.
  • Analyze and review each case file before Laboratory Director review.
  • Assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance.


  • MS degree with at least 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory; or a BS degree with at least 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Experience in the field as a supervisor in a clinical laboratory.
  • Degree in Molecular Biology preferred.
  • Experience with NGS technology preferred.
  • MT(ASCP) certified or equivalent.
  • Strong pipetting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
