Within the Developmental and Molecular Pathways Department we are aiming to understand and clinically exploit the human microbiome in health and disease. Using clinical samples obtained from IBD and other diseased cohorts, our goal is to define the mediators of microbe-host interactions that are relevant to human disease. We are leveraging broad expertise within Novartis and with key external partners to achieve this goal.
We are seeking a highly talented experimental chemical biologist to join the group. The candidate will have a vision for how to translate the numerous microbe-disease associations, and possess research skills that complement our existing expertise. EEO Statement The Novartis Group of Companies are Equal Opportunity Employers and take pride in maintaining a diverse environment. We do not discriminate in recruitment, hiring, training, promotion or any other employment practices for reasons of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital or veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
Candidates will possess a Ph.D.; display a proven record of scientific advances leading to high quality publications; be able to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously; and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Qualified candidates will have extensive experience with natural product biochemistry, and possess expertise in the array of analytical methods required to carry out this work. Experience with genomics/biosynthetic gene cluster mining; genome engineering/heterologous expression; and an understanding of target ID/mammalian biology is preferred.
