Job Description

Organovo seeks a reliable and highly-motivated Laboratory Technician II  to support the daily operations of the Manufacturing Team . The successful candidate will be part of a well-coordinated production team and will be responsible for culturing and harvesting mammalian cells and the set-up and operation of complex equipment in a clean room environment using good aseptic technique. 
 Lab Tech II Responsibilities:  

•The position will be required to follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure production of a reproducible and quality product. 
•The technician will have the opportunity to learn a variety of cell handling techniques and processes related to generation of 3D tissue constructs. 
•Responsible for culturing and harvesting mammalian cells and the set-up and operation of complex equipment in a clean room environment using good aseptic technique. 
•Media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation of cells consisting of primary human cells from commercial and patient sources  
•Preparation of product to meet demands  
•Performing basic calculations and data analysis 
•Accurate and reliable record keeping including database management, notebooks, and all pertinent documentation 
•Sterile preparation of laboratory glassware, tools, and reagents 
•Performance of general laboratory tasks, including maintenance of equipment 
•Follow Good Laboratory Practices and Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies


Lab Tech II Skills & Experience: 

•The successful candidate must have an Associate's Degree or BS in Biology, Biotechnology or a related field. 
•Minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience in a cell culture environment. 
•Must have superior organizational skills with attention to detail, the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately, and be able to adjust rapidly to shifting priorities and variable workloads. 
•Must have a track record of reliability and be able to work independently in a clean room environment using good aseptic technique.   
•Must be able to communicate well in oral and written format, and must possess adequate computer skills for word processing and data management.   
•Applicant must be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule to meet production demands including early mornings, late evenings, and some weekends.
