Job Description

Myriad RBM seeks a biostatistician to support the research team involved in the discovery and development of novel molecular diagnostic tests in the personalized medicine field.

  • Development of tools/metrics to ensure laboratory and data quality.
  • Evaluation of new technologies.
  • Design and analysis of laboratory experiments.
  • Planning and analysis of research studies.
  • Data mining of publicly available data to generate new hypotheses.
    • Work as the biostatistician in a scientific research team consisting of clinicians, scientists, and other research functions such as data management in the design, conduct, and reporting of clinical/lab studies for discovery through validation.
    • Provide statistical input such as sample size computation for study protocols
    • Provide statistical input in the development of data collection and dataset specifications
    • Develop statistical analyses plans
    • Develop programming plans as needed
    • Independently and/or under supervision develop SAS/R programs for generating publication quality statistical output such as tables, graphs, and other statistical output etc.
    • Must be able to perform quality assurance of own work and consistently produce accurate output.
    • Create and maintain all the required documentation for biostatistics and/or other functional activities.
    • Analyze metrics for laboratory processes as needed
    • Write Statistical Analysis Plans, Reports and Presentations



    • Assist team to ensure timelines for the study and/or publication project are met.
    • Work on multiple tasks at the same time and prioritize tasks to meet business needs.
    • Adhere to appropriate guidelines, and SOPs.

    • MS/PhD degree in Biostatistics or Bioinformatics



    • 2-3 year of work experience with MS and 1-2 years with PhD in clinical biostatistics/clinical SAS programming/bioinformatics for the Diagnostic/Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable.
    • Additionally, any analyses experience in genomics, microarray, and proteomics data is highly desirable.
    • Basic understanding of protein biology, biochemistry is a plus.




    • Solid understanding and academic preparation in biostatistics and at least some coursework in bioinformatics work or vice-versa
    • Excellent programming skills in R is required; SAS skills a plus.
    • Experience with relational database concepts is required; proficiency in SQL will be considered a solid plus.
    • Experience with Tableau software is a plus.
    • Independent thinker and curiosity to learn and train on new methods
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Understands basic concepts of the scientific research process and experimental design.
    • Proficient in computer skills in a MS Windows environment.
