The Informatics department at Affymetrix seeks a talented and motivated individual to contribute to internal product research and development efforts. The successful candidate will creatively apply and develop statistical methods to large biological data sets. Your efforts will help advance clinical and research products that are being used daily to improve human health through the application of genomic technologies.

Position Summary:

Provide expertise in the planning of studies, running data pipelines, collecting and cleaning data, on choosing and implementing appropriate methodologies, and interpreting the results.

Will Perform:
• Application of statistical and numerical methods to large biological data sets
• Programming with R and Python languages, or equivalent
• Array and sequence data analysis
• Experiment design and appropriate analysis methods and principles
• Product Development



Years of related experience: 5+ Years

• Masters or Ph.D. (preferred) in biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field

• Gathers, verifies integrity of and analyzes data
• Determine the procedures used in data collection
• Applies statistical methods and interprets data
• Develops new methods for resolving problems/issues
• Develops new methodologies and algorithms for data analysis
• Initiates and assists in designing research studies
• Provides scientific expertise based on genetic, statistical, and scientific training
• Works cross-functionally to assess and develop strategies for implementing platforms for research-use only and clinical applications
• Participates in process and operation improvement opportunities
• Responds to internal and external  inquiries
• Complies with company quality management systems, policies and procedures
• Provides mentorship, if applicable
• Additional duties/responsibilities according to business needs

Education: Master's Preferred: PhD
