Courtagen’s state-of-the-art Next Generation Sequencing clinical laboratory integrates genotype, phenotype, and disease mechanism data using cloud-based computing and custom analytical methods to provide the most comprehensive results for clinicians, patients, and their families to better understand and treat their disease.

 

Bioinformatics Scientist

 

Summary:

 

The Bioinformatics Scientist will be primarily responsible for developing and maintaining code for 1) Courtagen’s next generation clinical sequencing analysis pipeline, and 2) Courtagen’s internal webpage interfaces for clinical reporting.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain code to analyze large-scale clinical sequencing data
  • Create and support code to display clinical and genomic data
  • Create and maintain relational database(s)
  • Follow best coding practices: issue tracking, source code control, and document management                                                                     
Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

           

  • BS/MS in computer science, bioinformatics, or related field
  • 1+ year(s) experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data
  • Recent coding experience with a scripting language such as Ruby or Python
  • Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, RESTful webservices, Haml, HTML, and Apache is a plus
  • Experience in designing and implementing SQL (Oracle, MySQL) and noSQL (mongoDB) databases
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, including Linux
  • Experience with software deployment in cloud highly desirable, especially Amazon AWS experience
  • Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed
  • Start-up experience is a plus
