This is an excellent opportunity for a Bioinformatician with flair for web development, to work in the field of cardiovascular disease, building on our recent successes investigating the use of Next Generations Sequencing (NGS) in understanding the genetic basis of cardiovascular disease.
The post is funded through a £1.4 million health Innovation Challenge Fund and is based in our new state of the art facilities at the Imperial College Royal Brompton Campus in the heart of Chelsea. The research grant provides funding to leverage and integrate genomic datasets to improve our knowledge and understanding of Inherited Cardiac Conditions through improved bioinformatics tools and approaches.
You will utilise your web development, data mining and bioinformatics skills to develop the Cardiovascular Genetics & Genomics Group’s bioinformatics resources and analysis pipelines for NGS data, variant annotation and mutation detection in order to improve variant interpretation You will need to be educated to MSc level, ideally in Bioinformatics, with knowledge of bioinformatics tools and analysis approaches applied to NGS data.
You will have experience in web development, MYSQL and with scripting skills in Perl/Python and shell. This post is full-time, fixed-term for two years in the first instance and based at the Royal Brompton Campus.
