The Craig laboratory is seeking applicants with a strong background in molecular biology, statistics/biostatistics, bioinformatics, genetics, computer science or related fields, and with a demonstrated interest in translating biomedical discoveries to the clinic. Opportunities are available for both laboratory and computational tracks, with a strong preference towards individuals with a strong foundation in the wet and dry laboratories. Successful applicants will be expected to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment under the mentorship and collaboration with multiple faculty members across the department and institute. Fellows will have the opportunity to interact and train with faculty experts that uniquely combine germline genetics, cancer biology, and other heritable disease, to impact precision medicine in both pediatric and adult conditions. Fellows will interact with both industry and academia as they build the necessary skills and network to launch their career in translational genomics.
A major focus of this fellowship will be on developing the bioinformatics tools to bring precision or personalized medicine into clinical practice, building in integrative and single cell genomics in order to provide unparalleled insight into the molecular biology of a disease (e.g. transcriptome sequencing, methylation and other analyses along with whole genome sequencing) Long-term goals will be to incorporate data from clinical trials and treatment decisions, and pharmaceutical companies in order to realize the potential for improving the treatment of human disease.
