Job Description

Cellecta, a small, privately-owned Mountain View, CA based biotechnology company providing products and services to life science laboratories, is looking for someone to provide bioinformatics support for developing genetic libraries and managing NGS data for our custom service projects and internal development work.

We are looking for someone to oversee the design of primers, sgRNA and siRNA sequences, coordinate and organize CRISPR/RNAi library designs, coordinate sequence designs for projects with internal and external scientists, manage our NGS data flow, demultiplex, assess quality, clean-up, perform basic analysis of sequencing data, and assemble results into cogent clear reports for customers and internal use.

  • Graduate level life sciences degree genomics, molecular biology, or related field with relevant experience in computation biology/sequence analysis. Some grounding in statistics is also desirable.
  • Experience with at least some of the following: PCR primer design, sgRNA/siRNA sequence design, familiarity with genomic public databases (e.g., NCBI, Ensembl, HUGO, PANTHER, Pfam, etc.), sequencing/data management on an Illumina NGS system, RNA-Seq expression analysis, demultiplexing and cleaning up NGS data, and downstream bioinformatic analysis of sequencing results.
  • An ability to clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate scientific information in both verbal and written forms. Experience writing up analysis reports of sequencing results would be a plus.
  • Ability to organize and manage large amounts of data so that it is readily accessible to a wide range of users.
  • Ability to use readily available tools (e.g., Excel, Access, Perl, SQL, Python, etc.) to develop simple programs, write scripts, and create routines to carry out routine procedures and manage information.
  • Some background in Oncology related research and/or practical “wet” lab work in a life science setting a plus.
About Our Organization

Cellecta provides high-throughput loss-of-function genetic screening services for the discovery and functional characterization of novel therapeutic targets.  We offer pooled lentiviral shRNA, CRISPR, and barcode libraries; pooled library screening and analysis by NGS; targeted NGS for biomarker discovery; lentiviral reagents; and stable cDNA, shRNA, and CRISPR constructs and isogenic cell lines.
