GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The RNA Therapeutics Institute (RTI) is an integral part of the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s growing research enterprise. The RTI is quickly becoming one of the most prominent academic research entities in the field of RNA research.
The research lab of Craig C. Mello, Ph.D. has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and energetic bioinformatician. The candidate will support ongoing research projects in RNA interference, Crispr/CAS9, and Developmental biology. The ability to clearly communicate research methodology and design is essential to success in this position. Experience in an academic setting is strongly preferred.
Under the direction of a member of the faculty, the Bioinformatician is responsible for the design, development, evaluation and iterative modification of a technical infrastructure to expedite the quantitative evaluation of data resulting from studies that are laboratory based. The position will entail the establishment and maintenance of applicable in-house bioinformatics resources and interaction with individual lab members on customized research projects, as well independent projects that are solely computational.
