Job Description

We are seeking a PhD-level bioinformaticist with experience in functional genomics analysis and software development to provide informatics support for research projects using functional genomic and proteomic strategies (in particular CRISPR/Cas9, RNAi and mass spec) and to help establish and coordinate a new Bioinformatics Working Group at Harvard Medical School.

The bioinformatician will (a) perform and/or train researchers to do gene-set enrichment, pathway analysis and network analyses of high-throughput functional genomics and proteomics datasets. (b) help with design of CRISPR short guide RNAs (sgRNAs) and CRISPR projects. (c) refine graphic user interfaces (GUIs) for existing online tools developed at HMS relating to functional genomics analysis, and co-develop new tools; (d) refine existing GUIs related to CRISPR-Cas9 technologies and co-develop new ones; and (e) establish regular meetings of a HMS Bioinformatics Working Group to foster communication, coordination and collaboration among the various groups that support bioinformatics at HMS, and to coordinate with bioinformatics resources at Harvard affiliate institutions.

Requirements

Requirements: Ph.D in life science field; previous experience of bioinformatics such as functional genomics data analysis; familiarity with public bioinformatics resources and tools; understanding of basic statistics; good understanding and practical experience in data management tools and applications; proficiency in any of the programming languages, such as Java, Perl and Python; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
