Job Description

Thomson Reuters is looking for a motivated and self-starting data scientist who is interested in working with Big Data in the life sciences space. This role involves working with Thomson Reuter's Cortellis Data Fusion platform. CDF is "a powerful data core technology is used to aggregate entities and create associations between them, enabling organizations to
securely integrate Life Sciences content from a variety of sources. Cortellis Data Fusion is the leading technology to explore hidden relationships between data entities and is used by top pharma and research institutions for applications such as target finding, drug repurposing, and precision medicine." We are seeking bioinformaticians to join the US client facing team, to support pre-sales and delivery.

 This role involves providing technical support to the CDF sales team and participating in the delivery of projects to customers and includes:- Listening to customer needs, identifying requirements and recommending potential solutions.- Providing software demonstrations and presentations to overview our offerings- Answering technical questions to support the pre-sale process, engaging with application specialists where need be.- Working with systems engineers and application specialists to ensure system setup and demos for pilots are well prepared for pre-sales support.- The role will include web-based demonstrations, but also regular visits to customer sites.- Working as a team member defining data structure, entity relationships, and supporting the data analysis to support the project deliverables.- Documenting customer use cases to support the implementation of data structures and system configuration for the customer.- Delivering tasks on time, and to the highest quality standards, so project deliverables can be coordinated across team members and delivered to customers to agreed timelines and quality standards.  


 - Strong working knowledge of the data domains in which we work, including cross-pharmaceutical R&D data, and an ability to work closely with clients to understand their data and integrate it into our software systems.- Extensive travel will be required in order to meet with clients on-site to describe the capabilities of our software and how their data could be integrated.- You should be comfortable with interacting with and presenting to large groups of clients as well as understanding and effectively answering their questions.- You should be able to work efficiently and effectively within in a team environment in order to continuously integrate additional data sources into our overall systems.- Fast leaner, and have the ability to jump in quickly without a lot of direction, and learn by asking the right questions.- Able to achieve productivity in new tools, APIs, languages, and platforms quickly, and be versatile in your approach- You are familiar with ontologies and their importance to structuring of data.- You should be familiar with technologies such as RESTful APIs, XML/JSON, SQL and be proficient in at least one scripting language e.g. Groovy or Python. Preferred:- Programming skills in Java- Knowledge of big-data and semantic technologies e.g. Hadoop, RDF, OWL, Sparql, Triples
