Job Description


Primary responsibility includes developing new and maintaining existing laboratory automation methods as well as supporting a custom Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for a clinical next generation sequencing (NGS) pipeline.


Utilize laboratory automation and LIMS to improve processes and or implement new processes to make laboratory more efficient

  • Design and execute validation plans for new automation scripts
  • Develop databases and web portals for result retrieval and visual display
  • Follow best practices: issue tracking, source code control, and document management
  • Maintain and support a custom LIMS system for a clinical next generation sequencing (NGS) pipeline

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS in physical science, engineering, bioinformatics or related field
  • 1-2 years of laboratory experience (preferably in a clinical laboratory)
  • Previous laboratory automation experience (Hamilton robotics a plus)
  • Previous LIMS experience is a plus
  • Familiarity of NGS Sample prep processes a plus Experience with NetSuite and/or JavaScript is a plus
  • Recent coding experience with a scripting language like Ruby or Python
  • Experience with SQL (Oracle, MySQL) and noSQL (MongoDB) databases
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, including Linux
  • Experience with software deployment in cloud, especially Amazon AWS
  • Experience with designing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) is a plus
  • Start-up experience is a plus
