Job Description

Lucigen seeks enthusiastic and detail-oriented associate scientists to join its operations team. The associate scientists are responsible for the performance of a variety of laboratory tasks associated with the manufacture of cells and associated reagents that are used by life science researchers worldwide. Additional responsibilities for the position include:

  • Follow established manufacturing and development procedures and assist in the development and documentation of new and scaled-up production processes
  • Initiate and complete routine procedures, troubleshoot scientific problems, and interpret outcome of experiments in an independent and efficient manner
  • Perform quality testing and calculations according to procedures, analyze data, document and track results to ensure consistent product quality
  • Document work in manufacturing batch history records (BHR’s), notebooks, and technical reports
  • Identify, escalate, and document events that deviate from normal operation; participate as needed in investigations, nonconformance reporting, and corrective actions
  • Identify production problems and opportunities for improvement, reporting them to management for appropriate corrective action
  • Write and revise standard operating procedures (SOP’s), BHR’s, and other company documentation to ensure they are accurate and current
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of operational area

This position requires a high school diploma, with 2 years of lab experience a plus, or an Associate’s degree in biotechnology, or relevant field, and experience in standard laboratory techniques. Additional requirements include:

  • Professional training courses or previous experience in ISO or cGMP quality systems are a plus
  • Strong communication and PC skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office products and spreadsheet experience) required
  • Must work well within a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented small company environment
  • Must work well independently as well as with a group
  • Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Results-oriented, ensuring targets are met on time and on budget
  • Must demonstrate good professional judgment and reliability
  • Must be highly accurate and detail-oriented
