As a valued member of our healthcare team, we would like to help you find the right fit within University of Iowa Health Care to meet your career goals and interests.  University of Iowa Health Care has immediate multiple full-time openings for Genetic Counselors to provide genetic counseling to patients and families at University of Iowa Health Care within the departments of:

  • Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • Internal Medicine
  • Neurology
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Pediatrics

 

This is a multiple listing. Between this requisition and requisition 68226 we intend to hire a minimum of 3 genetic counselors. Applicants should review the years of experience requirements to determine which requisition to apply.

 

We are looking for enthusiastic, positive and motivated individuals to join our team.  Genetic Counselors at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and UI Children’s Hospital play a critical role in patient care, research and education. Genetic counseling is a priority for University of Iowa Health Care, and their role will become even more prominent as we continue to strengthen and grow our Genetic Counseling Services. These positions also provide opportunities for research, scholarship, and teaching.  Genetic counselors work independently as well as collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team as their expertise provides unique perspectives to our teams.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Human Genetics and/or Genetic Counseling  is required.
  • Board certification or eligibility in genetic counseling from the      American Board of Genetic Counseling is required.
  • Genetics Counseling graduate program clinical rotations or      internship experience, or 6 months to 1 year experience in the field of      genetic counseling is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal      skills is required.
  • Time management and ability to work on multiple projects      simultaneously is required.
  • Valid Driver's License, plus the ability to meet and maintain The      University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard.
  • Experience in the field of genetic counseling is desirable.
  • Experience in genetics research and/or recruitment of human      subjects for research projects is desirable.
