Position Summary:
This position is the leader of the Global Supply Chain New Product Introduction team and is key to enabling the successful launch of Illumina’s new products through collaboration with NPI development, Quality, and Operations teams.  At Illumina, the NPI Supply Chain Leadership role is responsible for developing supply chain strategies for new instrument and consumable products, as well as coordinating all supply chain activities and requirements ensuring availability of supply through development and commercial launch, as well as transferring sustaining activities to the appropriate site planning and procurement teams. 
The ideal candidate is someone passionate about innovation and creating new product, and possesses the skills and aptitude to understand the technical side of planning and procurement, as well as the cross-functional skills to successfully collaborate with Marketing, Quality, Engineering, R&D, and Finance.  This leadership role is expected to take initiative to seek and implement continuous improvement, while evaluating the impact of such changes to the organization.
All About You

This position, reporting to the Sr. Director, Strategic Sourcing, NPI, & Procurement, will serve as the leader of Illumina’s NPI Supply Chain organization and will be responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies for new products.

  • Responsible for leading a team that coordinates all supply chain activities and requirements to ensure availability of supply through development and commercial launch.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence Product Development, Marketing, Life Cycle Management engineering, Quality, Packaging, and other Global Supply Chain teams.
  • Lead the seamless transfer of sustaining activities to the appropriate site planning and procurement teams.
  • Driving supply for internal and commercial requirements through proper loading of forecasts, bills of materials, part setup, development and execution of the build and distribution plans. 
  • Ability to develop supply chain strategies to ensure new product development teams design for logistics, sourcing, service, and manufacturing best practices such that they understand and meet the needs of Global Operations and Quality, as well as our customers.
  • Lead regular communication updates to Supply Chain including monthly Supply Review meetings to share project status and impact to Global Operations and Quality.
  • Provide Supply Chain expertise, oversight, and guidance to new product development teams.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and assigns team objectives to achieve goals.
  • Responsible for the development and training of key NPI processes and metrics globally.
  • Develop and communicate goals and metrics to ensure successful execution of NPI program plans.
  • Identify and resolve NPI program issues, facilitate tradeoff decisions, and remove obstacles.
  • Educate / Inform Global Quality & Operations executives when programs appear to be off track or struggling to achieve program goals.  Must be comfortable flagging and escalating risks that may delay our ability to deliver quality products on time to our customers.

  • Provides purchasing and planning expertise, oversight, and guidance to areas of product development, manufacturing operations, supply chain, and/or field/product quality.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and assigns team objectives to achieve goals.
  • Responsible for development of key business processes and metrics.
  • Identifies, assesses and builds business case for improvements and resource requests in area.
  • Identifies, designs, and delivers training programs.

·         Proficient in the use of SAP desirable.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus ten years of direct work experience, in medical devices, bio and / or pharma. Clinical and/or IVD development experience desirable.
  • APICS Certification preferred.
