Job Description

Protein Technologies, Inc, a small, profitable biotechnology company in Tucson, is recruiting for the role of Account Manager. The successful candidate will be smart, energetic, outgoing, competitive and portray a presence of maturity / responsibility. The position requires a minimum of a B.S. degree in chemistry or a related scientific/technical field.

The position is customer-oriented and the primary responsibilities would involve product management and sales. Depending on the person, opportunities may also exist to participate in laboratory work and application development.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes strategies to achieve target sales/revenue quota

  • Manages existing customer relationships and identifies new opportunities in order to build sales pipeline; lead generating activities may include cold calling and trade show attendance

  • Successfully positions products to meet customer needs in a competitively-differentiated fashion; effectively communicates value proposition to minimize discounting

  • Provides accurate forecast information for the business

  • Creates and utilizes effective presentations to win business

  • Uses strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain customer relationships

  • Contributes to marketing and application development activities

  • Other tasks as assigned by senior management

     

    Qualifications

  • B.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field; a bachelor’s degree in a different field and relevant work experience may be considered

  • Experience in capital equipment sales is a plus

  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment and scholastic aptitude

  • Drive & dedication to become an expert on company products, customer needs, and market competition

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; person in this role will be able to clearly communicate complex information to customers and colleagues

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a global team and customers with a wide range of backgrounds.

  • Well-organized; capable of managing multiple tasks and keeping detailed records

  • Ability to travel extensively, domestically and internationally, including valid passport

  • Familiarity or experience with peptide or organic synthesis is a plus

  • Flexible location; preference for Tucson, Boston, or California
