Job Description
A Bioinformatician position (Research Associate II) is offered in the Morris lab (Crop Adaptation Lab). The bioinformatician will analyze, manage, and disseminate findings from pangenomics, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data sets to support the team’s mission to understand and improve crop adaptive traits. The successful candidate will be responsible for bioinformatic analyses and the development, implementation, and management of shared bioinformatics pipelines for plant genetic research and development. The work will contribute to trait discovery and prebreeding that serves global crop improvement networks.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, or a related field and 3+ years of relevant professional experience; or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a related field
Demonstrated experience in command line (Linux and/or Unix) and high-performance computing cluster environments
Demonstrated expertise in application of bioinformatics software and development of custom scripts.
Proficiency in programming languages like R, Python, Java, etc.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by employment start date. The department will not sponsor visa status for this position.
