Production Sustaining Engineer, Metrology
Pacific Biosciences is looking for an experienced Production Sustaining Engineer, Metrology, to join our Chip Production group. This person will support the manufacturing line for PacBio’s biologically integrated semiconductor chip technology. Daily job activities will include overseeing metrology operations, in-house and at vendor sites, to measure the chip's electrical and optical performance and assembly parameters.
Responsibilities:
This person will be responsible for delivering established production targets by resolving process issues and other production bottlenecks and maintaining high equipment uptime.
Key areas of focus are:
Provides technical and sustaining hands-on support to all aspects of chip production line, but primarily for unique in-house developed metrology tools
Prepares reports summarizing trends related to manufacturing performance and maintaining improvement road maps
Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques, and production yields for existing products
Prepares clear and concise documentation for new engineering procedures
Develops and conducts statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) targeting the physical cause of failure for yield loss and improving quality
Performs Measurement System Analyses (MSA), Process Capability Analyses, Failure Mode & Effects Analyses (FMEA), Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) Studies
Position Requirements:
BS degree in Engineering, MS degree preferred
7+ years' experience in process engineering in an advanced manufacturing environment preferred
Basic understanding of optics and tool automation
Ability to perform basic tool log searches and compile error messages
Knowledge of statistical and Design of Experiments (DOE) methods; operational knowledge of JMP software
Proven capability to act effectively and efficiently both independently and in team environments
Good judgment on task and job prioritization
Excellent communication skills.
