Job Description

Personal Genome Diagnostics (PGDx) is Empowering the Fight Against Cancer by unlocking actionable information from the genome. We are developing an innovative portfolio of regulated tissue-based and non-invasive liquid biopsy genomic products for laboratories worldwide.  We are seeking a highly motivated and inquisitive Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Technology Innovation team.  A successful candidate will develop and apply innovative solutions in bioinformatics, including new algorithms and software, to support future products to address key unmet medical needs across the oncology diagnostics continuum.


  • Leads the development and application of innovative methods, algorithms, and software to support Technology Innovation for breakthrough oncology biomarkers and applications
  • Understands technology at a platform system level (biology, chemistry, bioinformatics, analysis, automation, etc.) to enable new product development and optimization
  • Strives to develop and improve current technology through innovative methods and through evaluation of emerging technologies
  • Independently generates and pursues novel projects to improve on existing methods and technology in alignment with long term business objectives
  • Analyzes, interprets, and presents data to technical and project teams using established and newly developed workflows to enable data driven decisions
  • Maintains knowledge of relevant literature and competitive landscape
  • Anticipates risks and migrations, determines priorities, provides subject matter expertise on core business technologies
  • Makes short- and long-term technical decisions with understanding of business strategy 
  • Provides critical input to business decisions as recognized scientific leader, with appropriate level of visibility to Executive team


  • PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience, Masters with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelors with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in utilizing methods and data from publicly available resources
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python/Perl) and/or R/Matlab
  • Experience working in Linux and running tasks in a cluster environment
  • Proficiency developing and implementing bioinformatics tools and algorithms
  • Experience or training in statistics, algorithm development, and/or machine learning
  • Experience or training in genomics and the bioinformatics analyses of cancer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
