Job Description

 

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a genetics research institute located on the North Shore of Long Island, is currently accepting applications for a Research Technician II position.


The Technician will provide assistance to a Principal Investigator and must be able to conduct relatively independent molecular biology research. The successful candidate will provide and record complex analysis and interpretation of experiments results. The technician may also perform limited troubleshooting and calibrating of instruments.

Requirements

EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline is required.

EXPERIENCE: Three to five years’ experience in an academic or a biotechnology research lab setting (excluding college) is required, including molecular biology techniques such as isolation of RNA/DNA, labeling and sorting cells, gene expression analysis, PCR and NGS library preparation/sequencing, and/or the ability to perform tissue culture techniques is preferred. Computer skills and experience with data presentation are desirable.

SKILLS/OTHER: Must have excellent communication skills, solid analytical & organizational ability. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work independently yet interact effectively with other members of the research team.
Ideal candidate must be willing to commit 2 – 3 years to the position
