Agilent Technologies is seeking a highly-skilled individual with a background in cell biology for our Research Scientist position. Candidates whose specialization includes cancer, immunology, and/or infectious diseases are preferred. This position involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to develop applications and workflows that will involve xCELLigence impedance- and imaging-based system as well as other platforms within the Cell Analysis Division. We have a goal to pioneer novel solutions that simplify workflow, improve efficiency, increase information richness, and make it possible to tackle questions/issues that have been inaccessible using legacy assays/technologies.

Job responsibilities:

  • Conceive, develop, and conduct functional cell-based assays which demonstrate the capabilities of the CLSD (cell analysis division) product portfolio with an emphasis on development of workflow solutions which includes but not limited to the following areas:
  • Killing of cancer cells by engineered immune cells
  • Immune cell activation
  • Evaluating the efficacy of different chemo- and immuno-therapies, or combinations thereof
  • Tumor microenvironment studies (modeling chemical and cellular complexity to more accurately reflect in vivo conditions)
  • 3D assays (spheroids, organoids)
  • Host-microbe interactions
  • High throughput anti-microbial drug screening
  • Potency assays for R&D, manufacturing quality control, and personalized medicine
  • Preparation and presentation of results within internal and external meetings and conferences
  • Writing manuscripts and application notes

Working cross-functionally with commercial, business development, marketing, and support teams to understand the specific needs and gaps

This position is in San Diego, CA 

Requirements

  • PhD in cancer biology, immunology, or infectious diseases (or a related discipline)
  • 2+ years of post-doctoral work
  • 2+ years industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency in mammalian tissue culture and cell-based assays
  • Competency in molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, viral-mediated transduction, etc.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to simultaneously advance multiple projects
