The VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has been awarded US Patent No. 8,895,292, "Microfluidic chip devices and their use."

Hans Soderlund, Ari Hokkanen, Kari Kataja, Ingmar Stuns, Kai Kolari, Heli Siren, Stella Rovio, Reetta Satokari, and Jan Rautio are named as the inventors.
