William Haseltine, Donald Segal, Jerome McElroy, David Palmer, Reed McManigle, Pamela Bush, Grainne McClorey


William Haseltine will retire as chairman and CEO of Human Genome Sciences, the company said. He intends to step down once a new CEO has been appointed.

Donald Segal has been appointed president and CEO of Aurora, Canada-based Helix BioPharma. He has been executive vice president of Helix since 1995. Segal replaces Jerome McElroy as president. McElroy will remain chairman of the board.

The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse has promoted four new staffers to become members of its management team. David Palmer has become chief operating officer for PLSG. He was previously vice president of business development for PLSG. Prior to that, he was CEO of Confirmant. He holds a master’s in public management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s from West Virginia University.

Reed McManigle has become director of investment programs and incubation services at PLSG. He was previously director of incubator and entrepreneurial services. Prior to that, he was technology licensing manager at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon, a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from the University of Dayton.

Pamela Bush has become investment program manager at PLSG. She was previously program associate. Before that, she was a consultant for LaunchCyte. She has a doctorate in biological sciences from Carnegie Mellon and a bachelor’s in biology from Florida International University.

Grainne McClorey has become executive assistant. She was previously in general administration.
