Waters SunFire C8 Analytical Columns and Applied Biosystems API 5000 LC/MS/MS System

Waters announced this week the introduction of its SunFire C8 Analytical Columns, a new reversed-phase C8 bonded-silica columns set. The columns are the newest in Waters’ line of SunFire silica-based HPLC chemistries.

According to Waters, the SunFire columns provide a special peak shape for improved sensitivity, resolution and quantitation, and low pH stability for improved column lifetime, ultra-low MS bleed and enhanced selectivity. The columns are available in 3.5- 5-, and 10-micron spherical particles in various lengths and internal diameters.

Applied Biosystems announced this week the release of its API 5000 LC/MS/MS System. The new system is the latest addition to the API family of triple quadrupole analyzers. According to ABI, the new system brings the most sensitive and accurate mass spectrometer to the market for small-molecule quantification, and sets a new industry standard with an average nine-fold increase in sensitivity and four-fold improvement in signal-to-noise ration over other commercially available systems.
