People in the News: Eric Varma, Robert Cantrell

Vermillion has appointed Eric Varma to serve on its board of directors.

Varma, a physician, is a partner at Oracle Investment Management, which is Vermillion's largest shareholder. He also formerly worked at Leerink Swann, the Boston Consulting Group, and the US Food and Drug Administration.


Agilent this week named Robert Cantrell vice president and treasurer. He replaces Neil Dougherty, who is CFO-designate of the new electronic measurement company to be formed by the separation of Agilent into two publicly traded companies announced this week.

Cantrell was previously operational CFO for the company's electronic measurement business.
