Thermo Fisher Scientific this week launched its Pierce Peptide Retention Time Calibration Mixture for the prediction of peptide retention times on reversed-phase HPLC columns.

The mixture contains 15 synthetic heavy peptides mixed at an equimolar ratio to elute across the chromatographic gradient and is designed to streamline the transition between mass spec discovery results and targeted assays, the company said.

Bruker introduced this week single-use MALDI Biotarget sample plates for its MALDI Biotyper workflow for microbial identification.

The plates are designed for use by satellite laboratories for sending in to a central facility equipped with a MALDI-TOF mass spec machine, and make target cleaning procedures unnecessary while reducing the need for chemical handling, the company said.
