GE Healthcare this week launched its new Capto Blue affinity chromatography medium.

The medium is intended to capture human serum albumin and purify HSA fusion proteins, blood coagulation factors, enzymes, and recombinant proteins, and is more chemically stable and has a more rigid agarose base matrix than previous mediums, allowing for faster flow rates and larger sample volumes, the company said.

Protea Biosciences this week introduced its ProteoPrep Zwitterionic Cell Lysis Kit, Mass Spec Grade, for the recovery of purified protein lysates from biological samples.

The kit uses Protea's Progenta Zwitterionic Acid Labile Surfactant 1 detergent, which the company said alleviated problems commonly associated with CHAPS, SDS, and other detergents in proteomic studies.
