John Berriman was appointed chairman of Pronota’s board this week. Berriman is chairman of Algeta ASA and a board member of MicroMet, Ablynx and Oxxon Therapeutics Holdings. Based in Ghent, Belgium, Pronota, formerly known as Peakadilly, provides protein discovery and analysis services and conducts its own blood-based biomarker discovery.

Miraculins this week announced the reelection of the following to the company’s board: Albert Friesen; Phiet Bui; Jim Charlton; Peter de Visser; and Ted Paetkau.

Ronald Beavis was appointed Canada Research Chair in Experimental Bioinformatics, the University of British Columbia announced this week. Beavis is a member of the university’s Biomedical Research Center and is working on creating a library of peptides. The chair is a federally funded research position and is designed to build Canada’s research capacity.
