Helge Bastian, G. Randall Durnell

Helge Bastian has joined Sigma-Aldrich as vice president of global marketing for the Research Biotech unit, the company said this week.
Bastian has more than 15 years of experience in molecular biology and diagnostics, biotechnology, drug development, and the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. He was previously executive vice president of the life sciences services business unit at SGS. Before that, he was at Qiagen for more than 11 years where he held several management positions, including vice president of molecular diagnostics, vice president of global strategic marketing, and vice president of PreAnalytiX, a joint venture between Qiagen and Becton Dickinson.

Gentel Biosciences this week announced it hired G. Randall Durnell as vice president of commercial operations. Durnell has more than 25 years of corporate and business development in life sciences, Gentel said in a statement, and has worked as an executive at Beckman Coulter, Aurora Biosciences, now part of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and Pierce Biotechnology, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
