Debra Young, Bernd Brust, John Delli Santi, Susan Lambert, and Ruedi Aebersold

Ciphergen this week announced the appointment of Debra Young as vice president and CFO. Young had been the CFO of ViOptix since 2004. Before that she had held that position at the Nuclear Medicine Division of Philips Electronics.

Invitrogen said this week Bernd Brust has been promoted to the newly created post of senior vice president of sales for Europe and the Americas where he will be responsible for leading the company’s sales strategy in those areas. He will also assume the responsibilities previously held by John Delli Santi who resigned as general manager of Invitrogen’s North American operations to pursue other interests.
Brust joined Invitrogen in 2004 as general manager and vice president of European operations. Before joining Invitrogen, he was general manager of sales and marketing for GE Medical Systems Information Technologies.
Susan Lambert, currently VP of European sales, will succeed Brust as GM and VP of European operations. Lambert joined Invitrogen in 1975.


Ruedi Aebersold was among 49 scientists elected to the European Molecular Biology Organization, EMBO said this week. Aebersold was a co-founder of the Institute for Systems Biology where he remains a faculty member. He is also a professor of molecular systems biology at the Federal Technical University in Zurich and the University of Zurich.
