Deborah Day Barbara, Sanjiv Sam Gambhir

Strategic Diagnostics said this week Deborah Day Barbara has joined the company as vice president of business development. Her employment became effective Oct. 13.
Barbara had been vice president of business development and licensing for Ore Pharmaceuticals. Before that she was senior director of business and technology development for Johns Hopkins University and spent 11 years at Amersham Life Sciences in various sales positions.

Sanjiv Sam Gambhir has been appointed to the US National Academies Institute of Medicine.
Gambhir is the scientific program director at the Canary Foundation where he leads a team of researchers in proteomics, genomics, epigenomics, and other fields. He is also a professor of radiology and bioengineering at Stanford University where he is chief of the nuclear medicine division and director of the Molecular Imaging Program.
