Darlene Solomon has been appointed vice president and director of Agilent Laboratories, replacing Tom Saponas, who is retiring, the company said this week. Solomon was most recently director of the Life Science Technologies Laboratory at Agilent as well as senior director, research and development/technology for Agilent’s life sciences and chemical analysis business. She first joined Hewlett Packard Laboratories in 1984. Solomon holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Stanford University and a PhD in inorganic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
David Hastings has become the executive vice president and chief financial officer at Incyte, replacing the current CFO, John Vuko, the Palo Alto, Calif., and Wilmington, Del., company said this week. Hastings was most recently CFO and treasurer of ArQule. Before joining ArQule in 2000, he was vice president, corporate controller at Genzyme. Prior to joining Genzyme, Hastings was director of finance at Sepracor. From 1985 to 1994, he was an accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Vuko, who has been Incyte's CFO since December 1999, will remain on as an advisor to Incyte "for a period of time," the company said.
Hastings holds a BA in economics from the University of Vermont.
