Caliper Teams with HistoRx on Protein Biomarkers

By a GenomeWeb staff reporter

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Caliper Life Sciences today said that it has struck an alliance with HistoRx to co-develop new tissue-based imaging and analysis solutions for protein biomarkers.

The collaboration will combine Caliper's Vectra automated, multiplex tissue imaging platform, with HistoRx's Aqua image analysis system. The firms expect the collaboration to advance the identification and validation of new drug targets and improve drug response monitoring.

Under the deal, Caliper will have exclusive worldwide distribution rights for integrated products in the life science research market. The firm also intend to explore collaborative opportunities in clinical research and diagnostics.

"We see an opportunity to bring a comprehensive solution to the research market to help expand scientists' options for capturing key disease signatures and to aid in the development of new drugs and new strategies to battle cancer," Caliper President and CEO Kevin Hrusovsky said in a statement.

Caliper said that it expects an Aqua-enabled Vectra platform to launch in August this year.
