Beckman Coulter, Millipore

Beckman Coulter introduced this week its P1000 Tips for the company’s Biomek NX and FX Span-8 automated laboratory workstation systems. The tips are available presterile, presterile with barrier or nonsterile. They are certified to be RNase and DNase free, and are suitable for DNA purification, RNA isolation and protein purification, the company said.

Millipore announced this week the availability of its Centricon Plus-70 centrifugal filter device. The device is optimized for concentrating and desalting proteins, antibodies and viruses from chromatography fractions, cell culture supernatants, fermentation broths, and biological fluids, the company said.

According to Millipore, Centricon Plus-70 can concentrate 70 milliliters down to 350 microliteres in 25 minutes, with typical concentration factors between 50X and 200X and sample recoveries greater than 90 percent. The device contains a “deadstop” feature that prevents samples from spinning to dryness.
