Arthur Horwich, F. Ulrich Hartl, Rosalind Franklin, Francis DiNuzzo, M. James Barrett, Jordan Kramer

Arthur Horwich of Yale University and F. Ulrich Hartl of the Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry were two of three Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize winners announced this week. The award is given to outstanding contributions in biochemistry and biology.
Both were honored for their work in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of protein folding.
Horwich is the Eugene Higgins Professor of Genetics and a professor of pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine, and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator. Hartl is a cellular biochemist.
Rosalind Franklin was the third recipient of the award. She was honored posthumously for her work in the discovery of the structure of DNA.

Strategic Diagnostics this week announced the appointment of Francis DiNuzzo as president and CEO of the firm. He was also elected to the company board
DiNuzzo has been interim CEO of the company.
He joined Strategic Diagnostics this past February as executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Prior to joining the company, he was at Agilent Technologies where he held various management positions. 

Predictive Biosciences this week appointed M. James Barrett and Jordan Kramer to its board. Barrett is a general partner in venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates. Kramer is senior venture manager at Kaiser Permanente Ventures, an investment arm of insurance company Kaiser Permanente.
