Amersham Biosciences has released a group of Biotrak ELISA substrates for biomarkers involved in neurodegenerative research. The markers include: beta amyloid 1-20, beta amyloid 1-42, and alpha synuclein. The assays have been validated to measure disease samples including brain tissue, serum, plasma, and cerebrospinal fluid.


The protein interaction database MINT has released the updated MINT 2.0. Data from the new version is now available for download at http://psidev.sourceforge.net/mi/xml/doc/MIF.html. The database has been redesigned to meet the recommendations of the HUPO Protein Standards Initiative (see PM 10-24-03). Helix of Aurora, Ontario announced this week that it will launch its Heterodimer Protein Technology protein biochips at the BioNorth 2003 conference in Ottawa, Canada on Nov. 18. The biochips can be used to study protein interactions such as expression, purification, and enzymatic reactions while retaining the functional integrity of the protein under study, according to the company. The chips are designed to be used with most standard mass spectrometers.
