Advion BioServices this week announced the expansion of its LC/MS Biomarker Services Group as a result of rising demand from its pharmaceutical customers.
The company will increase staffing for the group and use Thermo Fisher Scientific and Applied Biosystems mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography, and liquid handling systems for the work.
The biomarker services group was launched in 2008 to complement its ligand-binding services, and its expansion "reflects increasing demand for biomarker methods as companion assays to other bioanalytical approaches needed for the development of new drugs," Stephen Lowes, Advion's senior vice president of Science, said in a statement.
Among the services offered are custom assay developments for peptide, amino acid, lipid, neurotransmitter, and nucleotide biomarkers. The group is under the direction of Gary Schultz, senior director, Biomarkers. Based in Ithaca, NY, Advion is a contract research organization.
