NEW YORK – Protein sequencing firm Quantum-Si said Tuesday that it is partnering with Idex Health & Science on developing and manufacturing the optics module for its Proteus proteomics platform.
Quantum-Si last year announced its plans to release an initial version of the Proteus system in 2026 that will be capable of analyzing around 50 million peptides per experiment. The system will use optical detection technology as opposed to the semiconductor technology currently used by the Branford, Connecticut-based company's Platinum protein sequencer.
Northbrook, Illinois-based Idex is a developer of optics, fluidics, and microfluidics for the life sciences.
"Being able to have Idex Health & Science's unique experience and world class technical team involved in the Proteus instrument program at this key phase of development further increases our confidence in delivering this novel platform to market by the second half of 2026," Quantum-Si President and CEO Jeff Hawkins said in a statement.
