Roche Diagnostics said this week that Robert Yates has been appointed as head of Roche Applied Science.

Yates succeeds Manfried Baier, who will retire from Roche at the end of this year.

Yates has held positions in R&D, engineering, and process management at Roche Diagnostics in both the company's Indianapolis offices and Roche's headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Most recently he served as global head of business development and licensing for Roche Diagnostics.


Nanosphere said this week that James Nahirny is stepping down from the company's board of directors.

Nahirny is a managing director with Bain Capital Venture Partners, and has been a member of Nanosphere's board since 2006.
