Advion Signs on Universal as Distributor of Compact Mass Spec in China

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Advion has appointed Universal Analytical and Testing Instruments as its sole distributor in China for its expression compact mass spectrometer.

The instrument was launched in China this week and is about half the size with half the price of a conventional single quadrupole mass spectrometer, Advion said. Expression is targeted for the discovery research and process development synthetic organic chemistry market and can provide rapid compound confirmation in normal phase chromatography fractions.

Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Advion said that it will continue to use Aspec Technologies to market its TriVersa nanoMate ion source products sold to the proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, and other markets in the Greater China market.

Based in Ithaca, NY, Advion provides flow chemistry systems and microfluidic products to improve the performance of mass specs. Universal is based in Hong Kong and supplies laboratory instruments and equipment to research labs in universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical industries, and government labs in Hong Kong and mainland China.
