NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – AB Sciex has acquired Labindia's mass spectrometry business for an undisclosed sum in a deal that the two firms said represents AB Sciex's deepening investment into India's scientific community.
AB Sciex said today that the purchase of the Delhi-based services provider is the result of a successful ongoing partnership between the companies.
"Expansion of AB Sciex's commercial operations in India will strengthen our position and help us build on the success of Labindia’s mass spectrometry business as well as execute on our growth strategy,” Umesh Pawa, managing director of AB Sciex India, said in a statement.
Pawa said that the deal and integration of its sales, services, and support efforts will simplify the process for AB Sciex's customers and will enable the company to "engage in a new level of dialogue with Indian scientists, who are among the leaders pushing the limits to improve life in this region."
The companies are working to transition Labindia's former mass spectrometry personnel, who will continue to provide services and support from their current locations in India.
Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
Based in New Delhi, Labindia markets and manufactures analytical instruments for and provides services to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences industries, as well as the chemical and petrochemical industries. Last year, it sold certain assets to Life Technologies.
