NHGRI: Adam Phillippy
The National Human Genome Research Institute recently appointed Adam Phillippy as founding director of the new Center for Genomics and Data Science Research (CGDSR), an NHGRI branch charged with developing and applying computational approaches to analyze large sets of genetic and genomic data, with an emphasis on identifying the genomic contributions to human disease. Phillippy is a senior investigator and head of the genome informatics section in the NHGRI intramural research program, and has been at the National Institutes of Health since 2015. Prior to this, he worked at the National Bioforensic Analysis Center, where he founded and led a bioinformatics group. He holds a BS in computer science from Loyola University Maryland and an MS and PhD in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
