Element Biosciences: Amirali Kia, Tina Tian

Element Biosciences has appointed Amirali Kia as VP of artificial intelligence and Tina Tian as VP of portfolio management. 

Kia will be tasked with optimizing the utility of multiomic datasets generated by the firm's Aviti instrument. He comes to the firm from Deepcell, where he was VP of AI and data science. He also has experience with AI at Harbinger Health and Illumina. He holds a doctorate from Stanford University in computing.

Tian comes to Element from Roche diagnostics, where she was head of pharma services. Prior to that, she was a senior director of portfolio and program management at Thermo Fisher Scientific in its clinical sequencing division. She also has senior experience at Pacific Biosciences and Affymetrix. She holds a doctorate in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University.
