Chan Zuckerberg Initiative: David Agard, Bridget Carragher, Clint Potter

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has unveiled the scientific team of its new Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging, also called the CZ Imaging Institute. David Agard, a biochemist and biophysicist at the University of California, San Francisco, has been named founding scientific director. Bridget Carragher and Clint Potter, codirectors of the Simons Electron Microscopy Center at the New York Structural Biology Center and joint chief technology officers of NanoImaging Services, have been named founding technical directors. CZI said the initial focus of the CZ Imaging Institute is to develop new technologies to map proteins and other macromolecules in cells in order to better understand cell structure and organization.
