Broad Institute: Eric Schmidt

Eric Schmidt has been appointed as chair of the Broad Institute's board of directors. He will begin his term on June 8 and will succeed Louis Gerstner Jr., who has served as chair of the board since 2013. Schmidt joined the board in 2012. He is the former CEO and chair of Google and a cofounder of Schmidt Futures, a philanthropy organization. Prior to Google, he held leadership positions at Novell and Sun Microsystems.
