Product Watch: Integromics RealTime StatMiner v5.0; Tecan TouchTools PCR Wizard for Freedom EVO

Premium

Integromics has released version 5.0 of its RealTime StatMiner software for qPCR gene expression workflows.

The new version includes an improved data loader to easily handle large data files from a variety of instrument platforms, and a new method for normalizing data across multiple plates. Thus, v5.0 enhances the reliability of qPCR data analysis from experiments that may have been performed at different times and locations.

In addition, the new interactive principal component analysis tool makes it possible to identify outliers and clusters of genes or samples with similar expression patterns within datasets that are becoming increasingly larger and more complex, Integromics said.

Finally, the new version provides new features for reporting of RT-qPCR analysis results, such as the automatic generation of gene lists showing altered expression between conditions and multiple comparison visualizations.

Tecan has launched the TouchTools PCR Wizard add-on for Freedom EVOware, offering straightforward automation of PCR reaction setup on Freedom EVO platforms.

This new tool simplifies the set-up of applications such as end-point, real-time, and multiplex PCR; sequencing; genotyping; and gene expression; as well as pathogen and mutagenesis detection, helping to reduce training time and costs, the company said.

The PCR Wizard's touchscreen operation and step-by-step instructions guide users through the set¬¬up process, allowing sample information to be entered manually, imported from a file or identified by barcode scanning. Users can optimize 96- and 384-well PCR plate layouts to meet specific workflow needs – using up to 96 master mixes and defining their own controls and dilution curves – with just a single set-up required for multiple PCR plates per run.

To avoid the risk of transcription errors, data can be exported in formats ready for the most popular real-time cyclers from Bio-Rad and Life Technologies, and optional integrated sample tracking further increases process security. The PCR Wizard can also be used in conjunction with the Freedom EVOware Normalization Wizard, Tecan said.
